A Syrian who is accused of attacking a Bangladeshi security officer on duty and causing about three per cent permanent disability received three months suspended jail term from the Dubai Criminal Court. According to the accusation sheet, AKS, 22, a mechanic, drove into the petrol station in the Al Ramoul area on January 27 in his company vehicle to fill diesel at about 8pm. MS, 29, was on duty at the time. As the latter was taking down the vehicle's details, AKS shouted “Ali Baba and a thief” and punched MS in the face before driving off. The victim filed a complaint with the police and the forensic report dated February 8 stated that he sustained injuries including two missing teeth and a one-centimetre wound on the upper lip. MS told the court that it took him about 20 days to be completely fit for work as the attack had resulted in three per cent permanent disability. However, AKS denied the accusation before the court and won a three months suspended jail term.
