Abu Dhabi Police’s Air Wing on Tuesday rescued an Australian lost in the sand dunes in the Sweihan region of the emirate.

The Air Wing was informed by Al Ain Police that a 37-year-old Australian named Alex Vllantyn is missing after his motorcycle broke down among the high sand dunes.

The Air Wing combed the sand dunes and located the missing man in an hour. The Australian was in good physical conditions though suffering from severe thirst.

Brigadier General Ali Mohammed Al Mazroui, Director of Air Wing, urged those making trips into the wilderness in cars or motorbikes to use satellite phones available in the UAE to help rescue aircraft to reach them quickly in case of accident or vehicle breakdown.
