Two of three Emirati brothers facing charges of assaulting a pregnant woman and her husband at the Ikea cafeteria in Dubai festival City have denied the accusations, reports The National. While the two men identified as AA, 52, and EA, 43, the third one MA,33, is travelling and is expected to back in the country in 15 days, the court was told. The incident dates back to June 13 last year when the trio allegedly attacked a Canadian investor AK and his wife BB who works as a marketing manager. The assault left BB with a permanent injury following a dislocation of her jaw. A Syrian ZR, who tried to intervene, was also allegedly assaulted by AA. Meanwhile, the judge requested a copy of the surveillance tapes from the restaurant. AK had earlier told prosecution that he and his wife went for lunch at the cafeteria and sat at the edge of a table for 12. This annoyed the brothers who claimed to have reserved the place. They allegedly ignored BB’s pleas that she was pregnant and was unable to move. During the course of the melee the men allegedly punched and kicked her leaving her with a broken jaw. She was later rushed to Rashid Hospital when store security called in police. The case has been adjourned to November 22 with the prosecution witnesses will be heard.
