Mohammad Obaid Al Mazrouie, Head of the Haj Affairs Office, announced on Monday that 4,000 out of UAE's total quota for this Haj season of 4,982 pilgrims have already arrived the holy lands and more were expected to arrive in the next few days.

Al Mazrouie stated today that he was continuously receiving many calls from senior officials inquiring about the health wellbeing of pilgrims as part the UAE leadership's care for pilgrims.

Use accredited Haj missions only

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has called on UAE citizens intending to perform the Haj pilgrimage this year to adhere to the instructions of the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments and Awqaf, adding that pilgrims should only use accredited Haj missions and obtain Haj entry passes in accordance with the regulations of the relevant Saudi authorities.

A MoFA spokesperson said that the warning is made to ensure the safety of UAE citizens abroad with the cooperation and coordination of the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments and Awqaf.

Mohammad Mir Abdullah Al Raisi, MoFA Under-Secretary, said that the Saudi Ministry of Haj has allocated a quota of 4,982 pilgrims this year for the UAE, which is not subject to increase, and is a limit given to all Islamic nations, due to expansion works being carried out by the current government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques in Al Haram Mosque in Makkah.

The Under-Secretary stressed the need for pilgrims to contact the official Haj mission in the event of emergency on 00966125534225 or 0096657828277, or the UAE Consulate-General in Jeddah on 00966 126515436 or 00966 126531387 or the operations department at the MoFA on 02 2222000 or 00971 600599991.
