Some schools in the UAE are currently off for a spring break while all curricula schools will close for the summer break end of June. That will be the time when most families travel, traditionally leading to a spike in airfares.

As most residents already know, the best priced tickets of local airlines will already have been sold out as the early birds would have finalised their travel plans and purchased those tickets.

It’s time now to become one of those early birds and grab the bargains while they’re still going. Even though it may still seem some months away, it’s a good idea to book your tickets early if you want the best price possible.

And there are deals on offer that you can avail of now to avoid paying more at a date closer to the long holidays in the summer.

Dubai-based carrier flydubai is offering up to 30 per cent discount on its return fares in economy and business class to Europe this summer. Under the deal, you can fly to Belgrade for Dh1,320; to Bucharest for Dh1,295; to Prague for Dh1,407; to Sofia for Dh1,050 and to Vienna for Dh1,365.

These discounted tickets can be bought until the afternoon of April 6 and the flight dates should fall between May 15 and June 30, 2015.

Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Airways is also running its spring super sale and is offering a discount of up to 30 per cent. This is a 96-hour sale with discounts in economy and business class to select destinations.

You can book now for travel all the way until February 2016. The last date to book tickets under this sale is April 1, and the travel period commences from April 4, 2015.

After the discount you can fly to Beirut for Dh865; to Bangkok for Dh1,965; to Amsterdam for Dh2,805; to Seychelles for Dh2,925; to Jaipur for Dh945 and to Washington for Dh3,415 among several other destinations.

These are return fares and inclusive of applicable taxes and fuel surcharges.
