An Egyptian worker allegedly attempted to kill his compatriot in their accommodation after pretending to playing with him a magic game in which he tied his hands with a rope. AMA, 26, glass fitter is accused of premeditatedly attemping to kill his roommate MAM, by stabbing him in his neck followed by a number of stabs in different parts of his body on December 12. The victim could snatch the knife from his hand and run away. The victim MAM, 37, who is also a glass fitter, testified that at around midday he returned with the accused back home as they had work in the evening. “When we got into the house, AMA locked the door with the key which we never do. We lock the door only at night. After having a cup of tea, I went to my room and slept for about an hour. When I woke up, I saw the accused sitting on his bed and holding in his hand a rope that we usually use to pick up stuff from the supermarket in the building. When I asked him why he was holding the rope, he replied that he wanted to play with me a magic game. I told him that it is not the time for playing games since we had work. However, as he insisted, I put my two arms forward and he tied them strongly. Despite the pains I felt he continued tying the rope around my body telling me: It is better to feel physial pain than to get heart pain." The victim suspected the intention of his friend who left the room, so he managed to release himself and went to the living room where the accused was sitting smoking a cigarette. “I told him it is shameful to do that with someone who is older than him and jokingly I told him that I will tie him. He replied blaming me why I said about him that he is a homosexual in front of others. Although the victim swore that he did never said this about him, the latter brought a knife and told him it would have been easier to bear stabs than to hear such words. The victim swore again and asked him to close discussion until hearing testimonies of their roommates in the evening. But the accused kept on repeating what he said and surprised the victim by stabbing him in his neck and then in his chest and face and other parts of his body wile saying: “no die". “I could get control over him and pulled the knife from his hand. I opened the door and went down and asked the watchman to call the police. The accused followed and called emergency telling me: “You should not die…I should die.” AA, Egyptian visitor testified before the prosecution that during November there was an argument between the two regarding the same issue. The court adjourned the case until June 8.
