Married woman acquitted of 'e-mail' affair
The federal supreme court acquitted a married woman of embarking on an affair by e-mail outside her marital life after she and her accomplice were convicted by the prosecutor and another court.
A court had earlier supported the prosecution charges against the unnamed woman and decided to fine her and her accomplice Dh3,000 each for “abetting and promoting adultery,” 'Emarat Al Youm' daily said.
But the couple were acquitted by an appeals court, prompting the prosecution to resort to the federal supreme court to sentence the woman for a relationship that was started in October 2008.
“The federal supreme court acquitted the woman and her accomplice on the grounds her husband’s sought evidence from her e mail without his wife’s permission,” the Arabic language newspaper said.”
“The court found that the words on the e mail do not amount to abetting or promoting adultery nor do they contain any seduction.”
