The Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority has increased taxis fare in the emirate for the second time in six months according to Al Ittihad newspaper.

The total increase since the beginning of April this year is by 25 per cent.

Officials justified the decision saying the fcares now were only the same as those in Sharjah.

One official said, “The increase will benefit the drivers and operators, which started operations in Ras Al Khaimah two years ago.”

Muhammad Rashid a resident of Ras Al Khaimah said, “There was a marked improvement in the service, but the increase has burdened those of low incomes, especially as the increase is the second in six months”.
