Sir Bani Yas Island to host kite festival

The inaugural kite festival will be held at Sir Bani Yas Island in Abu Dhabi in February 2016.
Organised by Anantara Hotels & Resorts on Sir Bani Yas Island, the festival is slated to be held on Friday, February 19, 2016, from 10.30am untill 4pm.
Complimentary return water taxi transfers are provided for all participants from the mainland to Sir Bani Yas Island.
The day is focused on families making their own kites and then flying them from the beaches of the island with a complimentary sausage sizzle, music and fun for all ages afterwards until 4pm.
“The introduction of a kite festival is one of those events, which has been created to focus on ‘family time’, encouraging creativity and bringing people together in a safe and entertaining environment,” said Sharon Garrett, Area Director of Marketing and Communications, Anantara Hotels Resorts & Spas Abu Dhabi.
Registration, which is free of charge, will open in January. Prizes will be awarded across a range of categories including ‘most colourful kite’.
Guests staying in the resort for the weekend, will receive a complimentary Kite Kit while day visitors are encouraged to bring their own. No commercial kite kits will be allowed.
