SUV flips over Dubai, Al Ain Road divider

A major accident is being reported on E66 where a black SUV has made impact with the central median on the highway and flipped over onto its side in Dubai.

A second vehicle, a red saloon car, is also pulled over in front of Skycourts Residences, with several emergency vehicles on the scene controlling traffic in both directions, with one lane currently closed to vehicular traffic.

Eyewitness K Sridhar spoke to Emirates 24|7, saying: “The accident has occurred just at the intersection of the new Emirates Road and the Dubai-Al Ain highway, heading towards Abu Dhabi.

“The black SUV that crashed into the central divider is on its side, with no damage to the railing; it would appear that it flipped over onto the meridian.”

Sridhar added the three-lane highway is now down to two lanes, with the police partially closing the fast lane to traffic.

However, that, along with rubberneckers on both sides of E66 has resulted in gridlock in the area.

Meanwhile, several other accidents have been reported, creating jams for vehicles commuting to Dubai from Sharjah: a crash has been reported on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, just after Al Nahda interchange, while another accident reported further down the same highway, opposite Global Village towards Abu Dhabi.
