Hamdan honours winners of Dihqa Awards

A ceremony to honor the winners of the 14th edition of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award's (Dihqa) at the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, was held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The ceremony was witnessed by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council and Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai.

A host of members of diplomats and dignitaries were also present at the ceremony.

Saeed Hared, Vice-Chairman of the Higher Organising Committee, in a speech, hailed the unwavering support extended to the award by its founder Sheikh Mohammed, who spared no efforts in this respect.

Abdul Rahman Siwar Al Dahab, who was chosen as the Islamic Personality of the year by Dihqa paid tribute to the UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan andi His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, for the support extended to the award which revived a good sunna and inflamed competition among Quran reciters.

Later Sheikh Hamdan honored the winners of the award and members of the jury and the sponsors.

The winners of this year Dihqa are Mohammed Irshad Marbae'e (Algeria) in first place followed by Mas'oud Razwan AKM, (Bangladesh), Mous'ab Eissa Ali Hussain Al Ba'araki, (Bahrain), Ahmed Yousri Mohammed Mohammed (Egypt), Khaled Abu Baker Salim Bawazeer (Yemen), Khalif Ibrahim Ahmed Taher (Libya), Ambrana Asa Ambona (Tanzania), Ammar bin Salahuddin bin Othman Boqus (Saudi Arabia), Nasser Badr Mohammed Abdul Rehman Mohammed Sarram (Kuwait), Mohammed Al Atrash (Morocco), Mohammed Othman Abdullah Al Saeed (Sudan).
