Lightning has struck a Philippine Airlines plane parked at Manila's international airport during a thunderstorm. Nine people who took cover under the plane from the downpour suffered slight burns.
Airline spokeswoman Cielo Villaluna says the Airbus 320 plane was not damaged by the lightning late Saturday and that its crew and passengers, who had boarded for a flight to Bangkok, were unharmed. The airline used another aircraft for the flight to Bangkok as a precaution.
Villaluna said Sunday that the four aircraft cleaners, two cargo handlers and three security men injured by the lightning were declared out of danger after treatment in two hospitals.
