A court in Ras Al-Khaimah sentenced an Emirati to a suspended one month jail term for molesting a woman while drunk after she dropped the case but ordered him to kiss his ageing father’s hand for the inconvenience, a newspaper reported on Wednesday.

The foreign lady was walking with her husband on Ras Al-Khaimah corniche when the Emirati swayed towards them, molested the lady then swore at her and her husband, Emirat Alyoum said.

After she and her husband dropped their case against the defendant, identified as AG, the judge gave him a suspended prison term but ordered him to apologize and kiss the hand of his father, who was present in court, the paper said.

“The judge decided on that move because of the inconvenience the defendant had caused to his ageing father by making him come to court for the trial,” it said.
