Passengers left on runway after flight arrival

Hundreds of passengers were left on the runway waiting for a bus to take them to the main terminal at a Saudi airport after they were allowed to leave the aircraft before the arrival of the bus, a newspaper reported on Sunday.

The passengers climbed down the stairs of the aircraft after the doors were opened by the captain but to their shock, they found no bus on the tarmac at the airport in the Western Red Sea port of Jeddah.

“The situation was dangerous as the passengers waited on the tarmac at night before the bus came to pick them,” the Saudi Arabic language daily 'Sabq' said.

It quoted sources saying a committee formed by the airline to investigate incident presented a report to the management to take action against those responsible.

Sabq said flight 1048 arrived in Jeddah from the capital Riyadh, but did not mention when the incident took place.
