2 kids burnt to death while asleep in Saudi

Two Arab children aged six and 12 years were charred to death while asleep in their apartment after a massive blaze swept through their seven-storey building in Saudi Arabia, a newspaper reported on Sunday.

The fire broke out at dawn in the building in the Eastern Saudi port of Dammam, prompting the civil defence to evacuate its nearly 200 dwellers.

The two boys, who lived in the seventh floor, were asleep in their bedroom when the blaze encompassed their apartment, Sabq daily said.

It quoted a civil defence spokesman saying that the fire started in the seventh floor and that the two boys’ parents as well as six other tenants suffered from burns and were taken to hospital. He said civil defence and police were investigating the cause of the fire.
