Accidents and violations of official rules at construction sites killed 15 workers and injured 50 in Bahrain in the first half of 2010, the Arabic language daily Alayyam reported on Saturday. Three of the violating companies have been suspended for repeating the offences while 119 others have been warned, the paper quoted Abbas Matouk, head of the job safety department at the Bahraini Labour Ministry, as saying. “These violations and accidents resulted in 15 deaths and 50 serious injuries in the first half of this year…we are now in the process of beefing up our inspection division to curb such offences.”
