A Saudi woman in her 60s got a shock when she was informed by the traffic police she committed a traffic offence although she has no car.

The woman was equally shocked when she knew that the offence was committed in an area that she had never visited.

The woman from the central town of Onaiza received a text on her mobile phone from traffic police informing her that she must pay a fine for a road offence she committed in the Western Saudi town of Medina.

Okaz newspaper quoted a traffic police officer as saying there might be an error in entering offence data based on national identity number.
