Samsung has announced a new deal where users of older Samsung phones can trade-in their devices to buy a new Galaxy S7 device for Dh1,099. The offer is valid for recent models (Galaxy S5 onwards). The offer was originally launched at Gitex Shopper by select retailers including One Mobile but failed to make any major headway due to the low prices the retailers were valuing the older models for. According to Samsung, the offer is valid on models including the Galaxy S6 edge+, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S6, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy Note edge, Galaxy Note 4 and the Galaxy S5. A customer with a 2014 model Motorola was told that he would get only Dh400 as exchange value for the faultless device. When asked what would they need to hand out Galaxy S7 for Dh1,099, the retailer said, “We would need a perfectly working Galaxy S6 edge plus to get that price.” A working Galaxy S5 was fetching about Dh550 to Dh650 as exchange value during the Spring Gitex Shopper that was held in March. However, Samsung's current offer is different. The traded-in devices will be graded on their condition as Grade A or Grade B. For example, you would need to pay only Dh1,099 for the Galaxy S7 when trading in a Grade A Galaxy Note 5 64GB Dual SIM phone while those holding a 64 GB Galaxy S6 edge+ (64 GB) can upgrade for Dh1,384. Prices differ depending on the make and model. Store personnel will also assist customers with moving all their data from their existing devices to the Galaxy S7 edge. It also comes with a year’s worth of free subscription to the beIN Sports Connect mobile application and a six month Shahid Plus subscription. Buyers also receive 12-month coverage for one-time accidental damage to the screen for a fee of Dh200. The offer can be availed from all Samsung brand shops and Axiom stores across the UAE and runs till 11 June 2016. Several retailers told Emirates 24|7 that despite various promotions, the iPhone 6S could have outsold the Galaxy S7 during the Shopper.
