UAE won the second prize in the 6th Arab Technology Business Plan Competition held in Cairo. The winning entry came from a Dubai-based company, which submitted an innovative and economical technology plan to convert solid waste into energy. The competition, jointly organised by the Arab Science and Technology Foundation (ASTF) and Intel, is supported by United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (Unido). ASTF Director Abdullah Abdulaziz Al Najjar said that the winning technology depends on a system that is easy to install and use to meet the needs of the local market in Dubai and the UAE reducing the cost of electricity production.
