Chelsea set up deadline transfer coup for Schuerrle

Published

Chelsea will attempt to match Manchester City’s Maicon coup with a deadline day coup of their own - an £18million deal for Bayer Leverkusen forward Andre Schurrle.

Schuerrle who impressed all with his performances for Germany, looks set to join the Stamford Bridge club, despite Roberto Di Matteo already having a £16million offer turned down by the Bundesliga club.

Schurrle can play centre-forward or on the wing and according to The Daily Mail, will pave the way for Daniel Sturridge to leave the club on loan.

Sturridge could be set to join Liverpool.

Tottenham have also shown an interest in the England international.
