An Emirati woman who worked in the customer service section at a Sharjah bank is facing charges of embezzling Dh529,000 by forging documents and issuing cash cards for clients without their knowledge, newspapers reported on Monday. The 34-year-old woman denied the charges but the manager of the bank’s branch in Buheirah told court that the defendant extorted the sum gradually from clients’ accounts through ATM cards and forged papers. A court had sentenced the unnamed woman to four months in prison in her absence but her lawyer sought a retrial after she denied all the charges.
