The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) agreed yesterday to boost its capital by $70 billion (Dh257bn), almost doubling its capacity to make loans to Latin America and the Caribbean. The gathering of top banking and finance officials at Cancun, which lasts until today, also agreed to cancel Haiti's $470 million debt in the wake of January's earthquake.
