Largest relief package for Haiti
Under the instructions of the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler of Abu Dhabi, the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Humanitarian Foundation is preparing to implement the second phase of emergency relief assistance for those affected in the devastating earthquake in Haiti.
The second phase of the emergency relief is being considered as one of the largest consignments of international aid that will be implemented through direct purchase from the local market in the Dominican Republic. This consignment will amount to about 500 tonnes of emergency relief items and necessary supplies.
The foundation has embarked immediately on implementing the directives to provide support and assistance to those affected in Haiti. The charity has completed all necessary preparations to implement the second phase of the relief programme to meet the urgent and necessary needs of the target population in Haiti at the moment in co-ordination with the Government f Dominica.
Clara Martinez, Dominican Ambassador to the UAE, hailed the charitable and humanitarian work of the UAE in general and the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Humanitarian Foundation in particular to mitigate sufferings of the people facing wars, calamities and natural disasters around the world.
