Fans of South Indian superstar Mohanlal are in for a treat this week as the actor celebrates 30 years in cinema in a week-long festival as part of the Dubai Summer Surprises. Executivebachelors.com, in association with City Vision and Dubai Studio City, have organised the festival, which kicks off tomorrow. Head to The Dubai Mall to view rare pictures and caricatures of Mohanlal, many of which will also be on sale; proceeds from the exhibition will donated to charity. On June 25, a limited edition biography will be launched at the Dubai Convention Centre, followed by the musical show Lal Salaam, showcasing Mohanlal's journey in the film industry. The award-winning actor will perform a theatrical monologue, followed by musical acts by singers Madhu Balakrishnan, Vijay Yesudas and actors Lakshmi Gopalswami and Vineeth. Those who miss the show in Dubai can catch it the following day at the National Theatre, Abu Dhabi. Mohanlal, 49, embarked on his film career with 1978's Thiranottam. Over the years, he gained a cult fan-following with outstanding performances in films such as Kireedam, Kala Paani, Company and Spadikam. After bagging several awards during his career, Mohanlal was given the Padma Shri by the Indian government in 2001, the country's highest civilian honour. His reputation also caught the interest of Hollywood's Jackie Chan, who is now working with Mohanlal in the Indo-Japanese production, Nairsan, released next year.
