New friends on the block: Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan live it up

Everyone’s eagerly awaiting the announcement of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s return to the silver screen. And, any public appearance she ever makes is speculated to be a step in that direction.

So, when she was spotted partying with Shah Rukh Khan, the Hindi film industry was abuzz with news about how the two will be pairing up for Farah Khan’s next – ‘Happy New Year’.

Filmmaker Karan Johar had tweeted a cozy shot of Ash, SRK, Gauri Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Sabina Khan, Manish Malhotra and himself, living it up in Vancouver.

With the names of so many actresses been tossed around for this ambitious project, it’s unclear whether there’s any truth to the latest Ash rumour.

Even though there’s no confirmation from either Farah or Ash, industry insiders are confident that there’s no smoke without fire.

Ash’s recent dance performances, many believe, is the right step forward.

Although Ash has not signed any movie since ‘Guzaarish’, many reports suggest that she’s finally ready to take the plunge.

The actress had taken a surprisingly long maternity leave, devoting all her time to play mommy duties to Aaradhya.

Apart from taking on a few brand endorsement deals and humanitarian initiatives, Ash has remained tight-lipped about her movie work.

If she is signed on for ‘Happy New Year’, it will reunite her with SRK, with whom she had earlier worked in ‘Devdas’.

Not so long ago, SRK-Ash friendship had cracked due to Salman Khan’s irrational behaviour.

It was on the set of ‘Chalte Chalte’, which had SRK-Ash pair up, that the drama had unfolded. Salman had created havoc on the set after being ‘dumped’ by Ash, forcing SRK to throw her out of the movie and replace her with Rani.

SRK’s change of heart left Ash terribly hurt and they never met eye-to-eye after that.

It wasn’t until her much-celebrated wedding with Abhishek Bachchan that things started to change.

The Khans and the Bachchans were pictured together in 2008, during Abhishek’s ‘Drona’ premiere, but it wasn’t until Karan Johar’s birthday bash in 2010, that SRK and Ash actually patched up.

Looking at this (new) spirit of bonhomie, a movie plan is most definitely the icing on the cake!
