Latifa bint Mohammed crowns UAE winners of 10th Arab Reading Challenge
Record-breaking edition attracts more than 40.2 million students from 60 countries
Dubai: Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), crowned Dana Adel Al Zarouni from Al Ittihad National Private School in Abu Dhabi as the UAE champion of the 10th edition of the Arab Reading Challenge.
Youssef Saeed Hamed from Al Qudwa School in Sharjah secured first place in the People of Determination category.
At the national level, Naeema Al Amiri from Dubai won the Outstanding Supervisor Award, while Hamdan Bin Abdullah Al Sharqi School in Fujairah received the Outstanding School Award.
The Arab Reading Challenge, organised under the umbrella of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), recorded a landmark participation in its 10th edition, attracting 40,286,428 students from 60 countries, representing 138,426 schools and supervised by 161,507 educators.
The winners were honoured during a ceremony attended by Sarah bint Yousef Al Amiri, Minister of Education, alongside a number of officials, educators involved in the initiative, supporters of knowledge and education, students from schools across the UAE, and parents of participating students.
The Arab Reading Challenge is one of the largest reading initiatives in the Arab world, aimed at promoting a culture of reading among students and encouraging the development of knowledge and learning across future generations.
