UAE schools warn parents, students against 13 safety and conduct violations

Dubai: UAE schools have identified 13 violations related to student entry and exit procedures, as well as the handover and collection of children, warning that such behaviour could put students’ safety at risk. School administrations said violations would be documented with photographs and appropriate action would be taken against offenders. The regulations cover both conduct within school campuses and traffic-related violations linked to vehicle movements and student drop-off and pick-up areas outside schools. Schools have sent reminders to parents stressing the importance of adhering to procedures governing the drop-off and collection of students before and after the school day. The measures are aimed at improving traffic safety and reducing congestion around school entrances. The guidelines include designated entry and exit gates for students based on their grade level and class, as well as specific drop-off points within school premises. Families with more than one child are allowed to collect all their children from the designated pick-up point of the youngest student to help reduce overcrowding. Schools warned against unsafe practices by parents, including stopping in the middle of the road to drop off children, allowing students to exit vehicles in undesignated areas, failing to use designated parking spaces, and obstructing emergency exits, pedestrian crossings or parking spaces reserved for people with disabilities. Other violations include driving against the flow of traffic in school parking areas or on one-way roads, attempting to overtake other vehicles, and failing to allow sufficient time for drivers to leave parking spaces. Schools also urged motorists to avoid excessive use of vehicle horns and not to stop in school bus lanes or obstruct buses entering or leaving school premises. Students were also reminded of prohibited behaviours on campus, including unauthorised absence from school, smoking or possessing prohibited substances, verbal or physical abuse of students or teachers, taking property belonging to others or to the school, damaging school facilities and equipment, tampering with official school records, and bringing or using mobile phones in violation of school regulations. Schools stressed the importance of adhering to school bus schedules and called on parents to cooperate with school administrations and comply with approved rules and codes of conduct. They warned that violations of these regulations and behavioural procedures would result in prescribed measures and penalties, with offences documented and referred to the relevant authorities. Schools said adherence to designated schedules and routes helps distribute student arrival and departure times, reduce traffic congestion and maintain the safety of students, parents and school staff.
