The father of a mentally challenged boy has been sentenced to two years in jail for abusing the youngster in Abu Dhabi.

The incident came to light when a passer-by heard the boy’s screams and alerted officials. When cops broke opened the door, they saw the boy in pathetic condition, covered in faeces and starving, reported ‘Al Bayan’ daily.

Court records reveal that officials found the boy alone at home as his family was away on holiday.

Apparently the food left for the boy was over and he started screaming as he was famished. Details of how long the youngster had been alone is not known. Also details of the boy’s illness, his nationality and family are also withheld for his safety.

Investigations have, however, revealed that the boy was subjected to torture since his birth. He was allegedly tied up at home and not taken outside as the family considered his condition shameful.

Currently the boy under the care of a humanitarian centre.
