Old woman looks for son missing for 37 years

A 90-year-old Saudi woman is still searching for her son who stormed out of the house after an argument with his father 37 years ago and never returned home.

Saeed bin Atti Al Harbi left his house in the western town of Makkah when he was 18 years old and is still missing despite a massive search operation by the police.

“He left home after a quarrel with his father and I thought he would return later…he has been away for nearly 37 years and I still hope to see him before I die,” his mother said, quoted by the Saudi Arabic language daily Sabq.

She said a man with similar descriptions has recently been found in the eastern region but DNA tests showed he is not her son.

His uncle Abdullah Al Hammadi said Saeed left home without any identity papers and that relatives are still searching for him.

 “We call on all community members to help us in finding Saeed so he will return to his mother, who does not stop crying every day,” he said.
