Classic commercial vehicles dating back to the early days of transport in the UAE will share the limelight with the latest models being launched in the Middle East market this week.

The classic vehicles will include a 1942 Dodge Power Wagon that was saved from the scrapyard after being abandoned when a garage business in Sharjah shut down.

It has been restored and put on show at Sharjah Old Cars Club and Museum and will be part of a special historic attraction at Commercial Vehicles Middle East, a three-day trade exhibition and conference that starts today at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The museum was invited to display vehicles at the event by organisers Streamline Marketing Group at the suggestion of Mohammed ben Sulayem, President of the Automobile and Touring Club of the UAE and Vice-President of the FIA.

Sulayem will be speaking at the official opening of the region's only specialised event for commercial vehicles, parts and services.
