Dalai Lama’s envoys return to India after China talks

A spokesman for the Dalai Lama says two envoys of the Tibetan spiritual leader have returned to India after talks with senior Communist Party officials in Beijing.

Chhime R. Chhoekyapa, the Dalai Lama's secretary, says there are no details immediately available about the weekend discussions between Lodi Gyari and Kelsang Gyaltsen and the Chinese officials, the first talks on restive Chinese-ruled Tibet in more than 15 months.

He says the two envoys returned to the Indian capital early Monday and are expected to fly to the north Indian hill town of Dharmsala later in the day to brief the Tibetan prime minister-in-exile Samdhong Rinpoche on the details of their meetings.
