Dubai: A foggy morning, a hot afternoon, and a damp evening – high humidity and temperatures are marking today as a typical summer day in the UAE.

According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), today’s weather will be fair to partly cloudy, with clouds appearing eastward and southward. These clouds may become convective by the afternoon, meaning they may grow vertically because of warm, moist air rising rapidly from the ground into the atmosphere. Such conditions may cause scattered rainfall today in regions like Fujairah and Kalba, according to the NCM.

Relative humidity (RH) is holding steady, between 70% to 90%, in coastal areas, so you can expect a high probability of fog or mist formation overnight, in regions like Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The NCM advises driving cautiously in such conditions, as horizontal visibility may be affected.

Low-40s temperatures ahead

Meanwhile, temperatures remain high, in the low-40s across the UAE.

According to the NCM, coastal and island regions will experience highs between 38°C and 42°C, while internal regions will be warmer, at 41°C to 45°C today.

Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah will reach 42°C today, while Dubai and Sharjah will see a high of 41°C. Ajman and Umm Al Quwain will reach 40°C while Fujairah will peak at 36°C.

Moderate sea conditions

The NCM forecasts light to moderate southeasterly to northeasterly winds, freshening at times, and reaching speeds of up to 35km/h.

Both the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman are expected to remain tranquil, with gentle waves reaching up to two feet on-shore and up to three feet off-shore.
