Lexus recalls 6,933 vehicles across UAE
Two recall campaigns cover Lexus LX500 and LX600 models to address engine software and transmission issues.
Dubai: Al Futtaim Motors, in coordination with the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, has launched two recall campaigns covering 6,933 Lexus vehicles in the UAE, including the LX500 and LX600 models manufactured in Japan between 2021 and 2024.
According to the recall notices, the first campaign involves updating the engine electronic control unit (ECU) software. The existing programming may not adequately account for the impact of the cooling fan under certain conditions, such as full-throttle acceleration, which could result in engine performance not meeting approved specifications.
The first recall campaign is expected to affect 3,222 vehicles in the UAE. The ECU software update will be carried out free of charge.
The second recall campaign relates to a defect in the 10-speed automatic transmission. Under certain conditions, excessive rotational speed may occur in specific gears, potentially damaging the transmission, causing a loss of drive power or leading to a transmission fluid leak, which could increase the risk of an accident or fire.
The campaign includes a free inspection of affected vehicles and reprogramming of the transmission control unit. It is expected to cover 3,711 vehicles in the UAE.
The notices stated that owners of affected vehicles will be contacted to arrange inspections and carry out the required corrective measures.
